It's possible to link more than one Stripe account to your platform but this should only be used in certain situations.

Stripe is our preferred payment gateway and can be used to accept payments from almost anywhere in the world through your Training Tilt site for products, recurring payments, and ad-hoc payment requests.

Connecting Your Stripe Account

From your dashboard, go to E-commerce

Next go to Payments & Orders

Click on Configure payment gateway (if this is your first stripe account to add) or Stripe Settings if it is your 2nd (or more) account.

If you clicked on confirgure payment because this is your first Stripe account, you need to click on Connect to Stripe.

You can connect one or more Stripe accounts by using the "Connect a Stripe Account" button.

Once you have one or more accounts connected you can map that account to the various e-commerce features in your platform.

Membership Plans

You can use membership plans to accept recurring payments for your services or for memberships to your online platform. Each membership plan can be linked to a different Stripe account.

Ad-hoc Payment Requests

You can use the payment requests feature in Training Tilt to request one off payments from your customers. When you send a payment request you can choose which Stripe account to use for the payment.

Online Store

The online store can only be linked to a single Stripe account at any one time. The store will be linked to the Stripe account marked as the default. You can change the default Stripe account at any time.

When to use multiple Stripe accounts

There are a number of situations where it makes sense to use more than one Stripe account.

1. When you operate out of more than one country or have needed to create a Stripe account in a new Country.

Stripe has only recently become available in some countries. You may have been using a Stripe account from a foreign country but now Stripe is available in your own country you wish to connect a new account.

2. When you have more than one business operating out of the same Training Tilt platform.

Sometimes coaching businesses run more than one business out of the same platform and wish to automatically push funds into different bank accounts. This can be achieved by connecting more than one Stripe account and then linking different Stripe accounts to different membership plans and adhoc payments.

3. When you would prefer your coaching staff get paid directly for their coaching.

Many coaching business employ coaches and would like them to be paid directly from their coaches. This can be achieved by connecting more than one Stripe account and then linking different Stripe accounts to different membership plans and adhoc payments.

When not to use multiple Stripe accounts

There are also situations where you should not use more than one Stripe account.

1. When you change bank accounts.

If you change bank accounts then you should change the bank account associated with your Stripe account by logging into Stripe directly. You do not need to create a new Stripe account.

2. When you transfer or sell your business

If you transfer or sell your business to another party all your existing recurring payments can not be transferred to another Stripe account. In this situation you should transfer ownership of your Stripe account to the new business owners. If you choose not to transfer your bank account to the new ownsers you could then disconnect your bank account from Stripe directly so the new owners can connect their own bank account.

Important: Limitations of Multiple Stripe Accounts

It's important to note that connecting a new Stripe account will not affect any of your existing payments or membership plans. Once a payment is processed or a recurring payment is initiated it can NOT be moved to a different Stripe account. This is not a limitation of the Training Tilt platform but is enforced by Stripe to avoid the complexity involved in moving payments between two different Stripe accounts.

If you connect a new Stripe account to your Training Tilt site that Stripe account will only be responsible for accepting new payments and will not affect any current recurring payments or historic ad-hoc payments.

After connecting a new Stripe account if you want to push all new payments into that account then you should edit each of your membership plans and link them to the new Stripe account. Note: this will only affect new signups and existing payments will still be processed through they original Stripe account they were first connected to.
