There are a number of ways you can create special offers for marketing your membership plans including coupon codes, free trial periods and hidden membership plans.

Free Trial Periods

Scenario: You want to offer a free trial of your membership and make it available to everyone. e.g. 30 day free trial then $29 a month

If you are using the Stripe payment gateway you can offer free trial periods on your membership plans. Your members will need to enter their credit card details to initiate a trial and after the trial period is over their card will automatically be charged. If a member wants to opt out of the trial then they can do so before the trial period is over from their account page.

A trial period must be configured using a number of days as shown below.

Coupon Codes

There are two supported coupon code methods. Coupon codes are only available using the Stripe payment gateway. The first is for fixed price memberships and startup prices (internal to Training Tilt) and the second is recurring coupon codes (configured directly in Stripe).

Fixed Price Coupons

Scenario 1: You have a startup price (setup price) on your plans but you want to offer a discount to certain people by giving them a coupon code.

Scenario 2: You have a fixed price membership e.g $49 for 90 days and you want to offer a discount to certain people by giving them a coupon code.

These can be configured directly within your site from the "Store and Payments - Coupons" menu. These coupons can only be used against "fixed price membership plans" (non-recurring) or for the "startup price" on recurring plans. Discounts can be offered using a fixed amount or a percentage.

Recurring Coupons

Scenario 1: You have a recurring membership and you want to offer a fixed amount of months for free for certain people by giving them a coupon code. e.g the first 3 months for free.

Scenario 2: You have a recurring membership and you want to offer a fixed amount of months for free to certain people by giving them a coupon code. e.g the first 3 months for free.

Scenario 3: You have a recurring membership and you want to offer a percentage or fixed discount off a fixed number of payments to certain people by giving them a coupon code. e.g 15% off each month for the first 6 months or $10 off every month for the first 6 months.

Scenario 4: You have a recurring membership and you want to offer a percentage or fixed discount off each and every month to certain people by giving them a coupon code. e.g 15% off every month or $10 off every month.

These types of coupons must be setup directly in your Stripe account and can only be used on the recurring aspect of a membership plan. e.g on the monthly subscription cost. Stripe has various options available when creating the coupons including, a fixed amount discount, a percentage discount, expiry dates and maximum number of times the coupon can be used. You can also configure whether the coupon applies to just a single recurring payment, a fixed number of payments e.g the first 3 monthly payments or "forever" where the discount will be applied to each and every recurring payment for the members subscription.

To access the coupons feature within your Stripe account, login to Stripe then go to the "Coupons" tab from the "Subscriptions" menu.

Hidden Membership Plans

Scenario: You want to offer special pricing or trial periods for certain people by giving them a secret link to a seperate membership plan.

A simple way to offer a special membership plan is to use the "Hidden" feature from the status tab of your membership plan. This way only the people that know the link to the plan will be able to signup for it. You can set special pricing for this plan or a special trial period that you only want to make available to specific customers.

To get the link for the plan first leave the "hidden" box unchecked, then go to your signup page e.g https://yoursite.com/signup and click on the "More Info" button on the plan in question. On the resulting page copy the link from the address bar. This is the link you should send your members to who you want to have access to this plan.
