It's now possible to turn on notifications for forum discussion replies. If turned on you will be notified when anyone replies to any forum topic.

If you don't want to be notified of replies on every topic then you can just subscribe to each individual discussion using the checkbox on the discussion itself.

You can access your notification settings from the top right hand menu.
